Abstract

1,014,124. Vehicle bale pick-up devices; endless conveyers. C. J. STEKETEE, April 26, 1963 [May 2, 1962; Sept. 27, 1962], No. 16507/63. Headings B8A and B8E. An elevator device for picking up bales a from the ground is attachable to a vehicle such as a tractor and comprises a frame 1, 2 mounting an endless chain conveyer 4 having grippers 5 and driven by a belt 9 from a pulley 16 secured to a shaft 12. The shaft 12 passes through a sleeve 10 of the frame to be secured in a sleeve forming an extension of the hub of the tractor. Pressing levers 20 ensure engagement of the bales by the grippers 5 while the upper part of the frame is preferably formed horizontally so that the bales tip over plates 22 to disengage from the grippers 5 and be held by projections 19 prior to stacking on the vehicle platform.
