Abstract
610,111. Manure distributers. GROSS, A. W. March 25, 1946, No. 9146. [Class 6(i)] A manure spreader comprises a truck having a slat conveyer which feeds material rearwardly to a spinner 28, and a crane 37 provided with a grab 39 for picking up manure from the ground, the motion of the conveyer and spinner and the hoisting action of the crane all being derived from a power take-off on the hauling tractor. In the form shown, the machine comprises a trailer vehicle supported on two main wheels 3 and a castor wheel 3a and adapted to be connected at its front end 6 to a tractor. The conveyer comprising endless chains 18 joined by slats 20 is mounted with its upper run passing along the floor 1 of the vehicle to feed manure rearwardly on to a spiked rotary spinner 28, extending across the width of the vehicle, which throws the manure over the ground. The spinner and conveyer are driven from the power take-off shaft 7 of the tractor by means of chain drives 9, 10 to lay-shafts such as 12 extending along each side of the vehicle. The crane 37 loads manure from the ground on to the vehicle, the grabhoisting rope 40 being wound on a winch 41 operated through gearing from the power take-off shaft. Clutches, provided on all drives, prevent overloading.
