Abstract
738,261. Endless conveyers. AGRICULTURAL REQUISITES & MECHANISATIONS, Ltd. Nov. 28, 1951 [Sept. 16, 1950], No. 22814/50. Class 78 (1). An elevator, particularly for raising crops from the ground, of the kind adapted to be towed by a tractor comprises a frame 10, supported by wheels 11 and adjustable shoes 12, on which is mounted a supporting trough 13 for a pair of parallel chains 14 connected by anglebars 15 carrying tines 16. The chains pass round terminal sprockets 17, 26, driving sprockets 18 and tension sprockets 20. The sprockets 26 are loosely mounted on a shaft 2 supported in slots 28 in plates 29 attached to the trough 13. The sprockets 20 are mounted on a shaft 21 carried by spring-controlled levers 22 pivotally mounted on the shaft 19 of the sprockets 18 and provided with pins 23 engaging in slots 24 in brackets 25 supporting the shafts 19. When the tines 16 encounter any obstruction or uneven ground, the chains 14 at their lower ends and the sprockets 20, 26 move relatively to the trough 13 and, after passing the obstruction, return to their normal position. The shaft 19 may be driven through gearing from the wheels 11 or from a power unit on the frame 10 or on the tractor towing the frame. Each chain 14 comprises links connected by springs whereby any slack is taken up automatically.
