Abstract

1,035,192. Men's pants. L. CORDELL. May 29, 1963 [April 3, 1962], No. 12824/62. Heading A3V. Men's underpants are constructed with a vertical or inclined central opening at the lower portion of the front part, and an inner front panel secured to the body of the pants at upper and lower portions of the panel behind the opening, leaving the opening between the panel and the front of the pants. The construction shown in Figs. land 4 comprises side panels 1, 2 and central panel 3 having a part 4 forming the back part, a portion 5 forming the crotch part and portion 6 extending up the front of the pants. The side panels are connected'to each other at the front over the front part 6 of panel 3 leaving a gap 8 between and bounded by edges 9 of the side panels at the centre front. Part 6 is sewn into the waistband and partly sewn to the side panels leaving the part 10a unconnected. Stitching along 10c unites the centre panel to side panels 1, 2. The edges 12, of side panels 1, 2, are preferably curved, and the sides 11 of the crotch portion 5 tapered to form leg openings 13, 14. The upper edge 16 of panel 6 may be secured at any desired position between the gap 8 and the waistband. Other embodiments are shown constructed of differently shaped panel portions. The garment is made from cotton or wool woven or knitted fabric, synthetic fibres or mixtures of these. The garment may also be formed with leg portions.
