A shelving structure comprises uprights 1 for supporting cantilever shelf brackets 23 and a base member 2 for each upright extending forwardly of the upright, each upright 1 and base member being of similar top-hat section, the rearwardly open main channel 4 of the upright 1 being accommodated within the upwardly open main channel 5 of the base 2, and the out-turned flanges 6 of the base abutting the out-turned flanges 7 of the upright. The, flanges 6, 7 and base channel 5 are reinforced by plates 9 and 8 respectively. A back plate 14 is carried between adjacent uprights. The ends of the shelving structure are closed by a plate 18 carried by L-section members 20 having tags 19 which downwardly engage inclined slots 22 in a side 4 of an end upright, at the same time a spigot on the bottom of the member 20 engages a socket in the base 2 or in the floor. Alternatively, the tags 19 may be formed on the uprights and the slots 22 in the L-section members 20. The bracket 23 comprises a U-section member 24 with a top plate 25 secured thereto, the plate having a turned down rear end 27 which selectively engages a slot 11 a in the web 10 of an upright 1. A joggled plate 28 at the lower rear of the bracket bears on the edge of the back plate 16. A shelf having an inwardly open channel 33 welded to its underside is supported on the bracket 23 with one end of one flange of the channel 33 engaged beneath one of a pair of pressed out portions 30 on the plate 25 and the other end abutting on upstanding tag 32.
