Abstract

373,256. Furniture drawers. ROBEY, C. F. W., Danecroft, Southcroft Avenue, West Wickham, Kent, and ROBERTSON, F. G., 18, Caversham Avenue, Palmers Green, London. Feb. 18, 1931, Nos. 5179, 9705, and 22491. [Class 52 (i).] The underside and the rear upper edge of a drawer are provided with means which support the drawer in a horizontal or other desired position when drawn out. As shown in the Figure, each drawer 2 has an upwardly extended back 3, so that when it is drawn out, this upper part contacts with an abutment 5, while an abutment 8 on the bottom of the drawer engages with the front 9 of the cabinet, and the withdrawn drawer is fixed in an upright position. Buffers 10 are fitted at the back of the cabinet. In a modification, the abutments 8 are replaced by wheels or rollers, which run on shelves set at a slight inclination downwards from front to back. In another modification, the wheels or rollers are in brackets attached to the back of the drawers, and run on shelves, slightly inclined upwards from front to back, fitted at their front edges with additional wheels or rollers.
