Cabinets.-A cabinet, cupboard, bookcase, or like article of furniture has a backboard pivoting about its top rear edge so that the board may lie in a vertical plane at the back of the cabinet or in a horizontal plane to serve as a table top, e.g., as a bed table. Fig. 2 shows a cabinet with shelves 3 and with a backboard 5 hinged at 4 so as to turn up into the horizontal position, shown in chain lines, to serve as a table adapted to extend over a table or bed. In a modification, Fig. 4, the board 6 can be moved vertically, its pivots 12 moving in guides 11 until it can be moved to the horizontal position, its rear end being supported by a rail 10.
