Abstract

1,031,946. Disc brakes. H. TEVES, E. A. TEVES, and M. TAUSEND. July 10, 1964 [Aug. 29, 1963], No. 28593/64. Heading F2E. A heat screening plate disposed between the piston and brake pad of a disc brake has a part annular opening 15 receiving a corresponding partannular projection 13 on the actuating cylinder face, has a portion 11 (Fig. 3b, not shown) which enters and is retained within a central bore in the piston, and has abutments 16 or 17 engaging the brake housing to prevent rotation of the screen and the piston. When the brake is applied only the portion 13 of the piston face engages the pad backing plate and this is stated to reduce noise. The screen may be reinforced by corrugations or folds and may be of thin, almost foil-like material. The Specification also describes a single clip (Fig. 4, not shown) which retains both of the pad retaining pins 6.
