Abstract

1,016,565. Disc brakes. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. Oct. 8, 1963 [Nov. 1, 1962], No. 41438/62. Heading F2E. In a disc brake of the kind having a movable member 1 having an opening 5 to accommodate a peripheral portion of a disc, and which is movable about a pivot, on which it is mounted at 6, by the reaction resulting from the actuation of an applying cylinder which is accommodated in a recess 4 and applies one of a pair of pads to one face of the disc (not shown), whereby the other pad is applied by the reaction force to the opposite face of the disc, the movable member is a pressing including a flange 7, or a pair of tongues, pressed out of a flat portion of the movable member as shown (Fig. 3) so as to extend on both sides of the plane of the pressing sufficiently to engage the other pad 8 over substantially its whole radial width. The movable member also includes pressed-out reinforcing ribs surrounding the central area 3 in which the opening 5 is provided.
