Abstract

1,182,428. Disc brakes. GIRLING Ltd. 26 June, 1967 [22 July, 1966], No. 33183/66. Heading F2E. [Also in Division E2] A disc brake pad assembly is releasably held down at one end by a fixed stop and at the other by a resilient keeper which also urges the pad assembly towards the stop. The Specification also relates to a keeper for the brake. The backing plate 2 of the pad assembly shown is held in position against the shoe 1 by a resilient L-shaped clip 9 having one arm bolted to the end of the shoe. The other arm has two outer portions 12 which bear on the backing plate and a central tongue 13 bent inwardly so that its edge bears on the edge of a recess 14 in the plate so as to hold the pad against the shoe and also to urge the shoe laterally and thus hold a slotted portion at the far end in engagement under a headed pin (4) on the shoe (Fig. 2, not shown). The outer portions 12 may be set at an angle of less than 90 degrees to bear more firmly on the backing plate and two resilient tongues may alternatively be arranged one each side of a centre portion.
