Abstract
1,209,894. Releasable fastenings. GIRDLING Ltd. 31 Oct., 1967 [2 Nov., 1966], No. 49116/ 66. Heading E2B. [Also in Division F2] The backing plate of a disc brake pad (see Division F2) is secured to the end of the operating piston by means of a lug 71 on the backing plate which is received within the castellated rim of the piston. The rim and the lug are undercut to receive a retaining spring 65a. The pad is placed in position by sliding it vertically downwards of the drawing, with the lug passing between the castellations, and then rotating the piston to the position shown. In fig. 3 (not shown) the undercut is omitted and the lug has a central gap.
