Abstract

1509624 Spot-type disc brakes GIRLING Ltd 29 April 1976 [17 May 1975] 21093/75 Heading F2E In a spot-type disc brake where a yoke 2 is slidably guided in grooves (not shown) in a stationary member 1 incorporating actuating means (e.g. including two pistons, one, 18 of which is shown), for reaction application of the indirectly-actuated friction pad assembly 6, the locating means 10 for locating the assembly 6 with respect to the yoke 2 also acts resiliently to bi-stable yoke 2 into engagement with "side" faces of the grooves, (preferably the radially outer faces). As shown, the locating means 10 comprise two pin portions 19 extending through openings in the backing plate of assembly 6 and through bores in lugs 28 of stationary member 1, a connector piece 21, and a compression spring 22 supported from connector piece 21 by a hooked pin to urge yoke 2 upwards. In Figs. 1, 2, (not shown), the connector piece is screwed directly to the yoke, spring 22 is omitted, and the natural resilience of the pin structure is utilized.
