In a brake pad and brake pad carrier combination having a substantially rectangular brake pad 4 and a substantially rectangular frame forming the carrier 1, the frame is provided with a grid surface 2 and the edges of the material of the grid surface dig into the back face of the brake pad when the combination is assembled and suspension eyelets 3 are provided in the frame for mounting the combination in a disc brake assembly.
