Abstract

1,026,313. Hinges. WILLIAM NEWMAN & SONS, Ltd. March 4, 1965 [March 6, 1964], No. 9507/64. Heading E2F. In a top pivotal mounting for swing doors comprising a housing 5 and slide 7 mounted in a door lintel above a door 3, horizontal adjustment of the pivot 4 is provided by a longitudinally confined nut 9 acting on a screw shank 8 attached to the slide 7. To allow for assembly of the door the pivot 4 is retractable vertically by means of plate 13 which is moved along the guide pin 17 by a screw device 18, 19. The housing 5 has a non-circular tubular crosssection. In an embodiment for single-action doors (Fig. 6, not shown) the retraction means is dispensed with and the pivot is mounted direct to the end of the slide offset from the centre. The screw 8 and nut 9 may be replaced by a headed bolt confined in the housing 5 and co-operating with a tapped hole in the end of the slide.
