Abstract
1,023,391. Heels. S. L. SISTEMAS VALGA. Sept. 3, 1962 [Sept. 2, 1961], No. 33766/62. Heading A3B. A threaded tie rod 5 extending through the body of a heel is secured at the upper end by a nut 21 and at the lower end is screwed to a heel tip member 23. As shown the forward end of the recessed portion 9 merges into a longitudinal groove 10 for a recessed rib 14 at the shank stiffener 11 which is housed in the recess and has an opening, through which the screwed end 6 of the tie rod passes, and a turned one projection 12 fitting into a cavity B at the bottom of the recess. A sole 15 of the shoe upper having a large winter spring is placed on the assembly along with a seating plate 18, depressed in the middle to form a well 19 drilled at the bottom through which projects the end 6, the assembly being fastened by a washer 20 and nut 21. The end 7 threads into a bush 22 ending in the heel tip 23. A fixing plate held down by screws may be provided instead of a seating plate, and either may be housed between two halves of the sole. Part of the heel may be fitted with a strong tube serving as a passage for the tie rod 5. Various modifications of methods of fastening the heel tip are shown and also various types of shank stiffeners.
