Abstract
879,761. Heels. SCHMITT, A. May 4, 1960 [June 24, 1959; Nov. 7, 1959], No. 15730/60. Class 17(3) A heel piece 11, Fig. 1, is attached to a high heel 10 by a fixing pin 16 forcibly locatable within a tubular steel reinforcing element 12 embedded in the heel 10. The pin 16 is softer than steel, e.g. copper or brass, and is provided with a lug 20, Fig. 2, which engages a slit 13 in the tubular element 12. The element 12 is provided with longitudinal channels 14 which form corresponding ridges 18 on pin 16 which is of larger diameter than element 12 and tapered at its end 19. The pin 16 has a corrugated head 17 around which the heel piece 11 is moulded. The heel piece, Fig. 2, may comprise an inner layer 15<SP>1</SP> of hard resin, e.g. polyamide, and an outer, wearing layer 15 <SP>11</SP> of softer material. The pin 16 may have a central bore 21 and a circular or polygonal recess in its head 17. Element 12 may extend from a point above .the bottom 10<SP>11</SP> of the heel so that its end 12<SP>1</SP> is covered by the heel material. The heel may be of resin, wood or leather.
