883,036. Heels. CARNCROSS, A. H. Sept. 15, 1960 [June 30, 1959], No. 22346/59. Classes 17(2) and 17(3) The wearing surface of a heel 10 is provided by the head 13 of a screw 12 which extends through the heel and is located at its other end by a plate provided in the heel adjacent the top thereof. As shown the heel is moulded integrally with a shank 11, and the screw 12 is threaded into a hole 14 in a metal plate 15 embedded in the heel and shank. Alternatively the screw passes through an unthreaded hole in the plate and engages a nut which abuts or is secured to the plate. The heel, which may be separate from the shoe, may be formed of other material, e.g. wood. The plate may be located in the heel only and may locate the screw by means of a bayonet joint.
