Abstract

991,425. Boots &c. ANDREWS HEELS Ltd. June 6, 1963 [June 7, 1962], No. 22037/62. Heading A3B. A shoe heel 1 has an undercut recess 3 on its upper surface which accommodates a heel seat and shank member 5. The recess 3 may be cut in the heel 1 using a rotary cutter or may be formed during the moulding of the heel from plastics material such as nylon or an acrylic resin. The heel seat and shank member may be moulded from polystyrene and may include a metal or glass fibre shank stiffener 4 which is bifurcated at its heel end. The heel seat and shank member may be moulded directly on to the heel or may be pre-formed and attached to the heel by adhesive. In a second embodiment the heel seat and shank member is attached to a heel by studs (not shown) on the underside of the shank member engaging undercut recesses in the heel.
