Abstract

939,387. Insole waist and heel stiffeners. P. A. GARCIA. Sept. 5, 1960 [Oct. 2, 1959; Dec. 10, 1959; March 3, 1960], No. 30477/60. Class 17 (2). An insole waist and heel stiffener is moulded from a synthetic plastic to yield a stiff reinforced or unreinforced arched base 2, 3 and a heel wall or counter 1 such as to form when in footwear an abnormally small top opening and an elastic grip round the back and sides of the wearer's heel. A stiffening shank, e.g. of steel, may extend along the insole waist and heel base and may have heel attachment holes. A protuberance 29 may be moulded on the insole to provide metatarsal support and the heel wall 28 may thin down at its edge (Fig. 8). Pressure pads may be provided on the insole (Figs. 4, 5 and 7, not shown).
