Abstract

1,098,707. Billiard cue and tip. H. A. REINHART. Jan. 5, 1966 [Jan. 11, 1965; Sept. 22, 1965], No. 476/66. Heading A6H. A billiard cue tip comprises a body 22 having a shank portion 26 and a head portion 24 with a rounded surface, at least the head portion of said body being formed of a mixture of finely-divided leather and resilient synthetic organic resin, preferably. polyurethane resin. Such a cue tip may be incorporated in a billiard cue which also comprises a stick tapering gradually from the grip end to the tip 4 having a cylindrical portion 6 of reduced diameter at the tip end thereof, a sleeve-shaped ferrule 12 of resilient organic resin, one end of said ferrule surrounding the portion 6 of the stick in interference fit therewith and the other end of said ferrule having an inwardly extending annular flange 20, to receive said cue tip 22. Preferably the junction between the cylindrical portion of reduced diameter 6 and an annular shoulder 8 is cut with a slightly larger radius. Annular grooves 14 may be provided on the inner surface of the ferrule 12 and on the inner surface of the flange 20 thereof.
