Abstract

1,023,195. Pneumatic despatch apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Feb. 13, 1964 [Feb. 21, 1963], No. 6102/64. Heading B8A. In a pneumatic tube carrier system in which an air-lock section A is provided between multiple system lines the pressure across the air-lock flaps 6, 7 is balanced prior to the passage of a carrier by the successive opening of valves 8b 106 in bridging tubes 8a, 10a arranged across the flaps 6, 7. In operation, carriers detected by contacts 3 and released by one of the blocking devices 2 cause valve 8b to be opened. A carrier in the lock A operates contact 9 to close valve 8b and open valve 10a. The carriers are scanned at A1 for control of the distributing devices 12.
