Abstract

1,022,664. Self-venting closures. JOHN DALE Ltd., and H. J. FOXTON. Aug. 10, 1964 [May 10, 1963], No. 18671/63. Heading B8T. A self-venting sealing element 1 comprises a flat disc of resilient material having on its upper face one or more recesses or grooves 2 and a hollow projection 7 extending from its lower face. The sealing element is disposed between a container neck 9 and a screw closure 6 having a peg 8 engaging in the projection 7. To release excess pressure, the recessed parts flex upwardly.
