Abstract

1,022,113. Two-part couplings. BURNDY CORPORATION. Nov. 1, 1962 [Nov. 9, 1961], No. 41344/62. Heading H2E. In a tubular socket contact split into four resilient contact fingers each having an individual contact surface, the contact surfaces of oppositely disposed contact fingers are axially spaced apart relative to one another so that a mating pin contact engages the staggered contact surfaces in turn and the necessary insertion force is therefore reduced. The Figure only shows two opposite contact fingers 317a, 317b (which correspond to the fingers 17a, 17b of the prior art socket, Fig. 2, not shown), with contact surfaces 321a, 321b spaced apart. The third contact finger (not shown), has its contact surface in the same plane as the contact surface of finger 317a and similarly the fourth contact finger (not shown), has its contact surface in the same plane as finger 317b.
