Abstract

716,686. Two-part couplings. CLARK, E. H. CARROL-. Aug. 11, 1952, No. 20136/52. Class 38(1). A plug connector comprises main and auxiliary body parts 2, 1 respectively, screwed together, and rotatable with respect to one another. The ends of the wires 27 to be connected are passed through passages 6 and enter an annular groove 1-7 in the top face of the part 2 in which lie the undercut edges 21 of the heads of the contact pins 18. The parts 1, 2 are then rotated with respect to each other in the direction of arrow A and the edges 21 split and tear off the insulation of the wire ends, the bared cores being gripped between the heads of the pins 18 and the bottom face of the part i. A spring-controlled ball 16a in a recess 15 in the part 2 can engage any one of a number of locating recesses 10 in the bottom face 5 of the part 1. A stop 11 on the part 1 runs in the channel 17 and limits the rotation by engagement with one of the pins 18. The wires 27 may enter the cap 1a through a resilient sleeve 28 and integral washer. 29. The screw 22 is tightened onto a resilient washer 25 to permit slight axial movement between the body parts.
