A method of manufacturing electric heating elements having a metallic sheath 1, Fig. 2 (not shown), a resistance element extending axially within the sheath and a thermally conductive but electrically insulating filling 3, comprises constituting the resistance element, before positioning in the sheath, by segments 2<SP>1</SP> interconnected by members 4<SP>1</SP> and cutting the assembly into sections at points A, B to form heating elements of which members 41 form the terminals. The sections may include two or more segments 2<SP>1</SP>, the intermediate members 4<SP>1</SP> being bared to provide terminals for series-parallel connections.
