Abstract

1,003,638. Sealed connections for sheathed heating elements. GRIMWOOD ELECTRI CAL PRODUCTS PTY. Ltd. April 3, 1964 [July 30, 1963], No. 13962/64. Heading H5H [Also in Division H2] To avoid the use of heated moulds when making a sealed connection between the terminal 14 of a conventional sheathed heating element 10 and a lead wire 15, the connection 16 and the adjoining ends of members 10, 15 are surrounded by a mass 17 of flowable uncured rubber and an insulating sleeve 18, Fig. 5 (not shown), after which the assembly is heated to radially shrink the sleeve 18 and cure the rubber mass 17 to produce a seal as shown in Fig. 2. Members 10, 15 may be suitably treated to ensure good bonding with members 17, 18.
