Abstract
1451050 Insulated conductors REYROLLE PARSONS Ltd 1 Nov 1973 [9 Nov 1972] 51749/72 Heading H1A [Also in Division H2] An assembly of conductors 1 each with its own insulation 2 is surrounded by resin-bonded type insulation 3, heat expansible sections 5 and optionally, a heat shrinkable layer 4, and a heat-shrinkable or non-heat-stretchable layer 6. The application of heat causes the insulation 3 to be consolidated and moulded around the conductors. The heat-expansible elements may be removed after the heating step. Fig. 2 (not shown) shows several layers of heat-shrinkable material (4) disposed within the resin-bonded insulation (3) in addition to the outer layer 4 of Fig. 1. The insulation 3 may be of resin-bonded mica, the heat-shrinkable layers 4, 6, of prestretched ethylene terephthalate tape; the heatexpansible material may be silicone rubber, and non-heat-stretchable material, if used, may be woven glass tape. The insulated windings, or portions thereof, or the end . windings of dynamo - electric machines, e.g. large turbo-alternators may have insulation applied by one of the methods described, which may also be used in applying interstrip insulation 2 about the conductors 1 in Fig. 1.
