Abstract

1,015,755. Drafting. SKF KUGELLAGEFABRIKEN G.m.b.H. March 15,1963 [March 17, 1962], No. 10445/63. Heading D1D. In a top roll carrier and weighting arm 1 wherein two adjacent rolls 6, 6<SP>1</SP> are carried by respective arms 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, the arms are each connected to the carrier by a universal joint. The joints comprise (see Fig. 2 not shown) shafts 2, 2<SP>1</SP> fixed relative to arm 1 and having indented centre portions engaged by raised, curved portions on the arms 3, 3<SP>1</SP> so that pivotal motion about the shafts and a rocking motion parallel to the plane of the drafting field are both possible. The arm 3<SP>1</SP> fits in saddle fashion over arm 3 so that no relative movement of the arms 3, 3<SP>1</SP> is possible parallel to the drafting field. The shaft 2<SP>1</SP> is carried by a member 10 which also carries the spring 8<SP>1</SP> loading roll 6<SP>1</SP> and is adjustable along the arm 1; thus the position of roll 6<SP>1</SP> can be adjusted. Upper and lower aprons 12,14 are provided, the upper apron having its cage 13 mounted on the shaft of roll 6; alternatively the cage for the upper apron is mounted on the shaft of the delivery roll 6.
