Abstract

1,018,629. Roller-way conveyers. FOUNDRY MANAGEMENTS & DESIGN CO. Ltd. July 7, 1964 [April 8, 1963], No. 13826/63. Heading B8A. A load transfer unit for diverting a load travelling on a roller conveyer to a path of movement directed substantially at right angles to that of the conveyer, comprises groups of axially aligned disc-like rollers 20 interposed between rollers 22 of the conveyer, the rollers 20 being mounted on air cushions 10 the compressed air supply to which is controlled so that the rollers 20 may be raised or lowered respectively above or below the peripheries of the rollers 22. The cushions 10 are disposed between a frame 2 and plummer blocks 13 which provide bearings for shafts 14 ... 19, Fig. 2 (not shown) to which are fixed, e.g. by welding, the groups of rollers 20. Alternate roller groups are offset relative to the other roller groups so that the rollers are interleaved.
