Abstract

1,014,390. Hook and eye fastenings. RAU FASTENER CO. Sept. 4, 1964 [May 1, 1964], No. 36445/64. Heading A3H. A hook or eye fastener comprises an attaching member, the prong of which passes through supporting material and through an aperture in one part of the fastener and is bent into a recess surrounding the aperture by a tool inserted in an opening in a second part of the fastener. A hook 15 has an opening 25 through which a tool is inserted to bend over the prongs 24 of a tack 23 securing the hook to a waistband 13 into a recess 22 surrounding the apertures for the prongs in the base portion 17 of the hook. An eye comprising an apertured upper part 27 with narrow end portions 32 engaging openings in the sides of a base part is similarly attached to the waistband by a tack 26 with prongs 39 passing through the material and apertures in the base part, the prongs being bent over into recess 38 surrounding the apertures by a tool inserted through the opening 33 in the upper part 27. The surface of the tack engaging the waistband is serrated.
