A fastening device for connecting together parts of wearing apparel comprises a cantilever tongue having at its inner end a part carrying a plurality of integral rearwardly extending attachment prongs for securing the device to the garment material, the free outer portion of the tongue extending away from and being wholly offset outwardly of the prong carrying part and being formed with a closed keyhole slot for detachable interlocking engagement with a complementary headed stud component, at least the portion of the cantilever tongue which carries the wider part of the keyhole slot being elevated to facilitate engagement of the headed stud component. The slotted fastening component 1 has a cranked tongue 5 which extends from a base part 2 with side prongs 3. The prongs are passed through an apertured back-plate 11 on the underside of the garment material and are clenched against the surface of the back plate. The tongue 5 has a key hole slot 6 through the wide end of which the domed stud head tongue 16 of component 12 is passed. The cranked root end 17 of the tongue 16 is slid along the narrow part of the slot and the tongue engages under the sides of the slot locking the two components together. The component 12 has a pronged base plate for attachment to a back plate under the material. In another embodiment the keyhole slot is more angular and the tongue is bowed. The rectangular tongue of the other component is reversely bent on to the base and has side lugs which in locking position engage under the side parts of the narrow end of the keyhole slot. The fastening devices may be made from wire instead of sheet metal, also an attachment prong or prongs may be formed in the blank from out of the keyhole slot aperture.
