720,883. Clips. UNITED CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. April 15, 1953 [May 14, 1952], No. 10353/53. Class 44. [Also in Group XXXVI] A fastening device for snap fastener engagement in a support opening, comprises a base 16 and an attaching shank 22 extending therefrom and having a portion adjacent to its end bent to provide a pair of legs 26 which are turned back to overlap one face of the shank 22 with the free ends directed toward the base, the legs being relatively inclined so as to diverge towards their free ends 36 whereby the outer side edges 32 of the legs are inclined outwardly beyond the adjacent edges 34 of the shank, the latter having a longitudinal split 30 extending from the junction with the legs 26. In the arrangement, shown, as applied to a cable clip, the base 16 is formed with a wire or cable retaining member 18 and in the assembled position in a support 14, the shank extends through an aperture 12 in the support so that the free ends of the legs 26 are snapped outwardly behind the support (see Fig. 4). As applied to a moulding fastener Fig. 9 (not shown), the base portion is provided with means for engaging a channelled moulding.
