Abstract

1, 013, 439. Processing webs for silver salt diffusion transfer. EASTMAN KODAK CO. May 29, 1962 [May 29, 1961], No. 35553/65. Divided out of 1,013,438. Heading G2C. A photographic processing web for use in silver salt diffusion transfer-processes as described in Specification 1013438 comprise a layer of a hydrophilic organic colloid containing a silver precipitating agent and a slightly soluble hydroxide of a polyvalent metal having a solubility in water of an order not greater than that of lead hydroxide and of formula Z(OH) n wherein n is 2, 3, or 4 and Z is a metal atom which is capable of forming a salt having a dissociation constant in water lower than that of the hydroxide e.g. Al or Zn, Cd, Tc or Pb. The web may contain a developing agent. Specified hydrophilic colloids are gelatin, Cellophane (Registered Trade Mark), polyvinyl alcohol, hydrolysed cellulose acetate, cellulose ether phthalate and copolymers of acrylic acid and ethyl acrylate mixed with gelatin. The silver precipitant or development nuclei may be one of those commonly employed in the aforesaid transfer process, particularly preferred is Carey Lea silver. Specified silver halide solvents are alkali metal thiosulphates, thiocyanates, and selerocyanates, thio glycerol, amino ethane thiols and p,p<SP>1</SP>-dithia-suberic acid. The web may contain potassium iodide, antifoggants or buffering agents. Specification 964,514 also is referred to.
