Abstract

767,978. Photographic silver salt diffusion process. AGFA AKT -GES FUR PHOTOFABRIKATION June 8, 1954 [June 5, 1953], No. 16813/54. Class 98(2) A light-sensitive silver halide emulsion. layer, containing an aromatic developing substance the aromatic nucleus of which is substituted by an aliphatic residue containing at least three carbon atoms or by a cyclo-aliphatic or araliphatic residue, is exposed and contacted with a reception layer containing development nuclei in the presence of an alkaline solution containing a silver halide solution to produce direct positive image in the reception layer. In an example 1, 2 - dihydroxy - 3 - cyclohexyl benzene in aqueous alcoholic solution is added to a silver halide emulsion and a layer produced therefrom is exposed and contacted in the presence of a solution containing sodium hydroxide and sodium sulphite with a gelatine layer containing colloidal silver sulphate, hypo, potassium metabisulphite and hydroquinone and the layers are separated after a time for the processing, the positive image possessing excellent whites. Otherdeveloping substances of the specified kinds for use in the silver halide emulsion are quoted and the hydroquinone in the reception layer may be replaced by metal or ascorbic acid.
