Abstract

1,011,512. Cots. BABY-MATE Inc. Sept. 12, 1963 [Sept. 17, 1962], No. 35377/62. Headings A4H, A4J and A4U. A collapsible cot comprises an upper frame 10, a base 26 for a mattress suspended from the frame and four legs 12 which are pivoted at 16 to the frame 10 so that they may rotate to a collapsed position for storage and be opened to a stable upright position for use. The base 26 is suspended from the frame 10 by honeycomb mesh nylon netting 32 which is adapted to take accordian type folds when the cot is collapsed. Supporting struts 36 extend from the legs 12 to the base 26 and are pivoted to both the legs and the base. These struts are so dimensioned that an over centre action is achieved to maintain the entire unit in a collapsed position with the legs 12 folded against the base 26. Straps 18 are connected between the frame 10 and the legs 12 to brace the latter in the open position. The cot may be used as a play pen. A table 48 may be attached to the cot.
