1,009,899. Automatic circuit - breakers. ETABLISSEMENTS BRESSON - FAILLEMARCHAND. July 10, 1962 [July 10, 1961; Jan. 8, 1962; Feb. 28, 1962; May 24, 1962; June 6, 1962], No. 26478/62. Heading H2B. A tripping device for an automatic circuitbreaker has a first magnetic circuit including the electromagnet coil and core 11, 10 and armature 13 and second magnetic circuit including a retaining permanent magnet 8 and the armature, magnetic parts 6, 7 of the second circuit having flat faces secured together by adhesive. The members 6 form pole pieces in both magnetic circuits and are glued on to a non-magnetie plate 5 having a hole 19 guiding a spindle 17 on which the armature 13 is retained by a magnetic spring washer 14 (Fig. 13) glued to the armature. As shown in Fig. 11, the permanent magnet bias may be adjusted by means of a magnetic screw 9 on which the permanent magnet is mounted or as shown in Fig. 23 the permanent magnet 8 may bridge the part 7 and a magnetic shunt 40 may be provided. A bias acting against the permanent magnet is provided by an adjustable spring 21 (Fig. 26) and the ends of the armature 13 and pole pieces 6 may be rounded at 46 (Fig. 25) to intersect at right angles. An aperture 56 may allow for manual tripping or alternatively the device can be mounted in a sealed housing (Fig. 21, not shown). The devices may release a second, ultra-sensitive latch (Figs. 28 to 30, not shown) which can also be released by a bimetallic strip.
