Abstract

1,008,141. Road traffic signals on vehicles. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Jan. 9, 1963 [Oct. 13, 1961], No. 36768/61. Heading G4Q. [Also in Division H2] A direction indicator switch comprises a slider 17 movable under the action of a member 14 which engages with inclined surfaces 19 on the slider 17 and a forked member 21 pivotally mounted on the slider. When the operating lever of the switch is moved to one or other of its operative positions, the member 14 urges the slider 17 towards the steering column 33 against the action of the spring 18 into a position in which a part of the forked member 21 is moved into the path of a projection 23 on the steering column. Rotation of the steering column to negotiate an indicated turn causes. the projection 23 to move the forked member angularly, but will have no effect on the setting of the switch operating lever, but when the column is moved in the opposite direction, the forked member will be moved into engagement with a projection 20 on the member 14 to reset the switch operating lever. The switch operating lever is retained in its operative position by spring-loaded balls in the switch housing, Fig. 2 (not shown).
