Abstract

A carton as shown in Fig. 2 comprises an inner and outer part, the inner part 10 being formed from a tube of polythene sealed at the base and the outer part, formed from a single blank, being made with a heat sealable inside coating. To assemble the carton, the inner part is placed over a former and the outer carton erected around it in such a way that the adjacent walls 4 and 5 either abut or overlap. The whole is then heated under pressure to seal the joints; a compressed air blast may be used to assist this sealing process. The top may be sealed after the contents have been inserted, by gussets 9 or in any other known manner.
