Abstract

1,001,272. Cartons for liquids. M. BERGHGRACHT. Nov. 15, 1961 [Nov. 19, 1960; Dec. 3, 1960], No. 40903/61. Heading B8P. A carton formed from a single blank comprises a base 1, rectangular side walls 2 and isosceles side walls 3, adjacent walls 2, 3 being joined by symmetrical triangular panels 4, 5 with marginal panels 7, 8. On erection of the carton, adjacent margins 7, 8 are heat sealed together, the carton filled and sealed at 9 as in Fig. 11. Alternatively, the symmetrical triangles 4, 5 may be turned in towards the centre of panel 3 and two pairs of joins 7, 8 heat sealed to form a four-layer seal 7, 8, 8, 7 as in Fig. 5. To assist this folding, the angle of the symmetrical triangles furthest from the base of the carton is made greater than or equal to half the apex angle of the isosceles triangle 3. Extensions to the blank shown as a dot-dash perimeter may be used to assist the sealing of the top after filling.
