Abstract

L'invention se rapporte aux articles en verre. Elle concerne un procédé pour la réalisation d'articles en verre à partir d'une préforme tubulaire en verre comportant un réseau de pores intercommunicants dans toute sa masse et présentant un indice de réfraction sensiblement uniforme, ce procédé comprenant les opérations consistant à modifier l'indice de réfraction de ladite masse de façon que l'indice de réfraction de la partie périphérique de celle-ci soit inférieur à celui de sa partie intérieure et à consolider la préforme de façon à former une pièce tubulaire en verre dense à gradient d'indice de réfraction, caractérisé en ce que ladite masse est séchée et simultanément soumise à une modification de son indice de réfraction à l'occasion de l'opération de consolidation. Application à fabrication d'un filament de guide d'ondes optique.
