Abstract

The maximum speed of a motor vehicle is limited by a device which shuts off the fuel at the chosen maximum speed. The fuel orifice (3) of an engine carburettor is controlled by the needle valve (2) which can slide in the hollow adjusting screw (4). The needle valve (2) is held open agains the spring (5) by a cable (8) which is attached to a solenoid (7) which is normally energised. When the control circuit receives a signal from a generator, driven from the engine, which indicates that the chosen speed has been reached, the solenoid is de-energised and allows the needle valve to close.
