Abstract

1400535 Spray carburetters FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 13 Oct 1972 [29 Nov 1971] 47327/72 Heading F1B In a carburetter having a throttle valve rotatable from a closed position 34 through an idle position 36 to an open position and an idle mixture passage 26, the throttle control means comprises adjustable stop means positionable in the path of a throttle valve lever 38 to determine the degree of throttle closure according to engine operation. The stop comprises a first member movable in response to engine start-up to a first position in which it limits the throttle closure to idle position 36 and movable, on engine shut-down, to a position permitting throttle closure to position 34 to prevent 'running- on'. In addition a second means 60 is movable to a position 68 which limits the throttle closure to a fast idle position 37. The parts are shown in the engine-off condition position for fast idle starting. Cranking of the engine causes solenoid 43 to move armature 48 to position 52 whilst camming lever 60 to position 66 thereby permitting throttle closure to position 36 when the throttle is released. When the solenoid 43 is de-energized the armature 48 is retracted to the anti-'running-on' position.
