Abstract

1400299 Automatic control of speed NIPPONDENSO CO Ltd 17 Nov 1972 [18 Nov 1971] 53111/72 Heading G3R A governor for an I. C. engine controls the fuel rack by regulating rod 10 which is adjusted by D.C. motor 13 under the control of electronic device 16 which detects the difference between the required speed, signalled as a voltage Vs and the actual speed detected by pick-up 17 and signalled as a voltage VN. The rod 10 is pivoted at 12c on the movable governing member 7 of a centrifugal flyweight governor driven by the engine. The position of the fuel rack regulating rod 10 may also be detected at 19 and signalled as voltage VR and this voltage may be adjusted by a voltage on line 20 to alter the speed droop characteristic of the governor. In operation the operating voltage VO=Vs-(VR+VN) or alternatively for isochronous operation the positional feedback may not be provided so voltage VR disappears from the above equation. The mechanical governor can be used alone with the lever 9 coupled to a manual control and the lever 11 locked.
