Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de polymérisation en émulsion du chlorure de vinyle, en une seule étape. On utilise un agent d'amorçage hydrosoluble et un système émulsionnant aqueux pré-homogénéisé constitué par un agent tensioactif alkylé ou alcénylé à chaîne droite en C 12 à C18 et un alcool alkylique ou alcénylique à chaîne droite en C16 à C20 et/ou un composé hydrocarboné saturé à chaîne droite, dont la teneur en atomes de carbone est supérieure à 18. Les agents tensio-actifs sont par exemple le lauryl-sulfate de sodium et l'oléate de sodium, les alcools appropriés sont les alcools stéarylique, cétylique et l'eicosanol. Un hydrocarbure approprié est l'eicosane. Les homo- ou co-polymères résultants, sous la forme de latex, présentent une stabilité mécanique excellente, des dimensions granulométriques élevées par rapport à celles obtenues selon l'art antérieur et une bonne stabilite thermique.
