Abstract

The collector has a double sided hollow plate similar in form to a heating radiator through which liquid tobe heated is circulated. The upper and lower surfaces can have ridges which increase the stiffness and also increase the absorbing surface. The upper surface is painted black. The plate is contained inside a casing moulded from thermosetting plastic material. The upper side of the casing is transparent to solar radiation and the lower side is opaque. The lower side holds a layer of insulating material and the absorber plate rests on top of this.
