Abstract
1351722 Solar devices TECHNOLOGY MINISTER OF and T A HOLLOBONE 19 April 1971 [4 Nov 1969] 54058/69 Heading F4U A solar heat exchange device comprises an open-topped housing 1, a layer 2 of insulating material, a layer 3 of reflecting material, a tubular passageway 4 for the passage of liquid e.g. water therethrough, the passageway being formed of plasticized polyvinylchloride, and a cover member 5 of polymethyl methacrylate or glass. A solar energy absorbent layer of matt black cloth may be disposed immediately adjacent the rear, and sides of the passageway 4. The cover member 5 and the passageway 4 are made of materials which are highly transmissive to visible light and higher frequency infra-red radiation but relatively opaque to lower frequency infra-red radiation.
