Abstract

Noise suppressor for expanding gases has a tubular housing (1) having a central inlet (5) for the gas surrounded by two concentric annular inlets (a, b) for ambient air. The central inlet leads to an ejector (4) situated inside the housing and having an annular duct for the gas surrounding a hollow divergent centre body having inlets (c) for the ambient air and extending downstream to a divergent outlet. The gas exhausts from the duct at an annular outlet upstream of the divergent outlet. The ejector provides for stepless expansion of the gas and lowers the sound frequency of the gas.
