Abstract
706,645. Generating combustion products under pressure. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. Sept. 4, 1951 [Sept. 4, 1950], No. 20864/51. Class 51 (1) A combustion chamber, particularly for use in a gas turbine plant, comprises an outer casing 2 and a flame tube 3, the portion of the flame tube subject to the greatest heat comprising at least two concentrically-arranged cylindrical perforated shells 3a, 3b, which are connected together at their ends so that no air can enter from the ends into the annular spaces formed by the shells. Air is supplied to the outer casing 2 through the duct 1 and the flame tube also comprises swirl vanes 5 and a single shell 3c at the downstream end which has large air inlet openings 10. Air inlets are also formed at 11 between the shells 3a, 3c. The sum of the crosssectional areas of the perforations in the innermost perforated shell 3b may be equal to the sum of the areas of the holes in each of the outer perforated shells, or it may be greater than the sum of the areas of the holes in each individual outer perforated shell.
