Abstract

A charging valve for a gas fuelled cigarette lighter has a body screwed into an internal boss in the lighter body. A flat internal surface of the boss forms the valve seat and a valve member is normally pressed against the seat by a spring so that a sealing washer blocks off transverse holes in the valve member. When the lighter is recharged the valve member is pressed upwards off its seat. The valve body has a hexagonal external form, with the width across the flats only slightly less than the internal width of the lighter body, so that the valve body cannot unscrew itself once assembled.
