Abstract
1,045,181. Pyrophoric lighters. R. MOHR, and H. H. QUANDT. July 8, 1963 [Feb. 19, 1963], No. 26923/63. Heading F4F. A pyrophoric lighter comprises a flint 5 which is urged against an abrasive wheel 8 by the pressure of a liquefied gas in a reservoir 1. A piston 6 with a sealing ring 7 is disposed between the flint and the liquefied gas and is slidable in a housing 3 disposed in the reservoir 1. The liquefied gas is butane and/or propane. The flint may be constructed as a piston with a groove for a sealing ring. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the lower end of the housing 3 is closed to form a gas chamber a. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the closure of the housing 3 is by a filling valve.
